Make This One Small Change Now to Improve Your Diet!

glob

One thing I’ve been learning more about recently through my own experiences with eating healthy is the more small-scale changes we can make to our daily diets that can have a positive impact on our health over time.

Whenever I speak to clients about changing their diets, they automatically assume I’m going to suggest large and drastic changes that are too complicated to implement…However I don’t think that’s very realistic in today’s world. There are very small and simple changes people can make everyday to their diets that can result in a bigger long-term positive impact, and that aren’t overly complicated to do.

One such change is adding more vegetables to every meal!

Vegetables are without a doubt some of the most nutrient dense foods we have access to today, and by adding a little more to each meal, you could not only increase the amount of health beneficial nutrients you’re exposing your body to, but you can also reap the other various positive health benefits that vegetables have to offer, such as:

  • Antioxidants that protect the body from cellular damage.
  • Anti-inflammatory compounds.
  • A high water content.
  • A high fibre content.
  • Various other phytochemicals that have beneficial health effects

Now, adding more veggies to your diet doesn’t mean eating salad after salad…Sure, eating a salad can be a quick and easy way to consume a good variety of vegetables, however there are many other ways to enjoy veggies, some of which being:

  • Raw veggies on the side of the plate with your favorite dip, like hummus (if you tolerate legumes), guacamole, baba ghanoush, or even a nice ranch (if you tolerate dairy).
  • Roasted veggies.
  • Steamed veggies.
  • Fried veggies, like a nice mix of kale, spinach, and onion fried up in seasonings and a good quality oil.

So, are you going to add more veggies to your diet? It might just be the easiest thing you can do to improve your health now!
